I love music. All music. It's always playing in my office. Always on my radio as loud as it will go in the car. It's rockin' the kitchen when we are hanging. I have a bad habit of googling lyrics, as it drives me crazy if I don't understand the words. (I'm pretty famous for knowing all the words in a song as I'm singing in my angelic pitch.)
On Twitter, they have a thread of new music on Mondays - I'm always stumbling on new stuff I wouldn't have "discovered" otherwise.
The girls have also developed their own love of music. They sing and dance and make up routines and memorize lyrics to High School Musical and of course, Fergie. So awhile back, I decided to introduce the girls to artists I think they should know. Artists, that while they don't need to actually like, they need to appreciate their influence in their respective genre. So the girls have "New Music Mondays," too.
I think it would be sad if someone else "introduced" them to John Cash, Billy Joel, Elton John, Prince, Tim McGraw, 38 Special, Madonna, the entire 80's hair band line-up, Justin Timberlake, Bryan Adams, Mellencamp . . . you get the idea. So I've been doing it. We've compiled quite a list. For example, last week it was Michael Jackson. For obvious reasons.
But yesterday . . . it was the Beach Boys. Hello summer! I took them to the bookstore, and showed them how to find an album. (They are already quite educated on downloading music off the internet.) I showed them how to trace their little fingers across the names of the cd's. I taught them how to do a dance of victory when they find what they were looking for. I taught them how to properly open a cd case.
And then we opened up the sun roof and jammed out to "Fun, Fun, Fun."
And then we had to talk about what a T-Bird is - which is something I'm not 100% sure I understand. But we all know what a bummer it is when Daddy takes something away.
Next week? Tupac?

Strawberry Fields . . . Forever
Jessie and Eddie Arrive Late for the Party
The Twins Turn Two!!
Possibly one of my favorite moments. The twins learned how to blow their noses into a tissue, and they are really good at it. However, that methodology doesn't work so much on a candle. Blow through your mouth girls . . .
The girls each got a four wheeler. Shane tapes the throttle down so they don't have to work so hard!
And the big kids playing volleyball.
